Remember the good ol' days? Bad guys were on playing cards and war was as simple as knocking over a few statues. Freedom was on the march, and terrorists were wanted dead or alive. Gas was two bucks a gallon, and there was to be two pots of oil in every garage. Life was good.
Since that time, the realities of fighting a war in Iraq and Afghanistan have become much more clear to the American public, and the Bush administration has suffered a loss in public support because of it.
Today, the administration would love for us to revisit that golden age of simplicity. Because honestly, killing bad guys is what war is all about, right?
